What am I doing here?

It’s a good question. I’m a psychiatrist and therapist by training, and live in Yorkshire with my husband, two adult sons (my daughter recently moved out) and my mother.

There are several things I have learnt over the last few decades, and one of the most important has been how much easier life is when its simpler. The idea for this blog started off because I’ve been trying to lose weight all my adult life, without any permanent success. I have discovered that the most effective way for me is the keto diet, but this is hard for me to stick to when I’m swimming against the tide. So I’ve decided to keep a diary, which is at least nominally public, even if no one ever actually reads it. I’m hoping the principle that somebody could will give me some accountability.

In addition to this, I’ve discovered how to declutter and keep my house tidier (another lifelong challenge for me), and that has simplified, or shrunk my life some more, again in a good way.

The other thing is that I am a knitter, but I am distractable and impulsive and easily shrink the items I have made. So that is something I need to work on.
